System of welfare organization Travers from Zwolle has been unusable for a week due to computer virus
Thousand employees of welfare organization Travers from Zwolle cannot do their work due to a computer virus. The system has been down for a week now. According to chairman of the board Wim Bos, no privacy-sensitive data has been leaked.
Travers provides childcare, welfare work and is involved with cultural initiatives such as pop stage Hedon. Due to the malfunction, employees cannot access digital files, consult internally or send emails. "It is difficult to work for a while, but childcare and work in the neighborhood continue as usual," says Bos.
Wrong link clicked?
It is not known what type of virus it is. It is also not clear how the virus entered the computer system. "It is possible that an employee clicked on the wrong link, maybe we will never find out", says Bos.
According to the chairman of the board, digital safety tests were carried out last year. "Nothing came out at the time. But you never know if you are safe enough until it turns out that you are not."
"We are going to completely revise the security and take extra measures," says Bos. "We are now busy solving the problem. This afternoon, no later than tomorrow, everything will work again."

Patient data Haga hospital found in shopping cart supermarket
Lists of names, dates of birth, medication and complaints from patients at the Haga hospital in The Hague have been dropped. The documents were found in a shopping cart in a supermarket.
The lists were used as a shopping list. This concerns service transfers from the nursing ward 10A at the Leyweg location.
"We are very shocked and then I express myself softly," Haga spokesperson Marnix Beekmans told Omroep West . "We will immediately start an investigation. We will also make a report to the Dutch Data Protection Authority."
The documents were handed over to the police by the finder. The hospital will now find out which patients are on the list. They are informed of the leak and are apologized. It is not clear how many people are involved.
Barbie
The Haga hospital has come into disrepute more often because of careless handling of patient data. Last year the hospital was in the news when it turned out that 85 employees had illegally looked into the medical file of reality star Samantha de Jong, better known as Barbie.
The Dutch Data Protection Authority imposed a fine of 460,000 euros on the hospital . The employees received an official warning , nobody was fired. Before the investigation into this leak is complete, nothing is said about the handling of the case.

Nitrogen ruling has consequences for 18,000 projects. "The country is on hold"
Not hundreds or a few thousand, but 18,000 projects have been affected by the nitrogen decision of the Council of State. 'From chicken coop to residential area', the future of all these projects is now uncertain.
This is evidenced by a still unpublished tour commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, sources report to RTL News after reporting by the NRC .
Construction sector misses out on 14 billion euros in projects due to nitrogen rulings
It is the first time that the scope of the Council of State's nitrogen ruling has been established so clearly. RTL Z already showed that 1500 building projects have become uncertain .
"The country is basically on holdl"
The Interprovincial Consultation (IPO) made a tour of all local authorities and estimated the number of projects at 18,000. According to the Gelderse representative of the consultative body, Peter Drenth, "the country is basically standing on hold."
Nitrogen rules affect projects on the railways, main waterways and airports. Plans were also made for plans for a complete new-build district in Roermond . The ministry is waiting for a new calculation method to recalculate the emission limits. In the meantime, the future of all construction projects remains uncertain.
New nitrogen rules
Due to a ruling by the Council of State in May, it is no longer allowed to just build in the vicinity of one of the 118 Natura 2000 areas, protected nature areas where an overload of nitrogen has been reported.
The idea behind this is the construction of roads and houses, among other things, which can be harmful to nature reserves.
As a result, permits are no longer issued just like that, which has put countless projects at risk. Projects that were already being prepared, but for which an irrevocable permit has not yet been issued, must also fear their future. Even constructing a few mini golf courses is no longer as easy as before.

Shunting on part of Rotterdam harbor track stopped for safety reasons
Shunting wagons with hazardous substances has been halted in an area of the port of Rotterdam with immediate effect. This concerns the Waalhaven Zuid railway yard. According to rail manager ProRail, the fire extinguishing water facilities on the yard appear to be inadequate, which means that the safe deployment of emergency services cannot be guaranteed.
ProRail has been working for some time on improving the extinguishing capacity and temporary measures had already been taken, but now a test has shown that they are not sufficient. That is why, for the time being, no trainsets with hazardous substances are being shunted at Waalhaven South. ProRail takes into account that the site cannot be used for months, but hopes to shorten that period.
Much annoyance
According to the rail manager, around twenty trains a day use the Waalhaven Zuid railway yard. ProRail acknowledges that rail freight transport is greatly hindered by the shutdown and says it is working hard on a solution. It is now being considered whether carriers of hazardous substances can temporarily use alternative locations.
State Secretary Van Veldhoven asked ProRail how "this acute situation" could have arisen. She writes to the House of Representatives that all parties involved must draw lessons from this.
Van Veldhoven set aside 30 million euros earlier this year to improve the rail infrastructure in the port of Rotterdam.
